REPAIR PERKS
Professional Repair Services
Professional, on-site instrument wind and percussion instrument repair services by Japanese technicians will be available for festival participants only on a first-come, first-served basis at a flat fee of only RM50.

Basic Repair Workshop
A complimentary, basic wind instrument repair workshop by our guest Japanese technician, Mr. Tohru Taniguchi will be made available to band educators, teachers and the public on 19 Sep during the festival.

Aimed at increasing industry awareness, participants will share their thoughts on what being in a band or orchestra means to them, showcasing diverse perspectives.
Collaborative Mural
Participants create a mural representing Kuching’s skyline, creating a collaborative artwork. This work will be presented to the Guest of Honour at the Finale Gala Concert.
Bekikis Bulu Betis
Participants will explore the dance moves of this highly popular, unofficial Sarawak anthem, which has been associated with notions of local identity, unity and belonging.
Instrument Display
Exhibits of musical instruments and accessories typically unavailable locally, providing business opportunities and eliminating shipping costs.
Finale Gala Concert
The culminating event of SIBOFest 2024 showcases the talents of local and international musicians who have participated in the festival.
World Premiere Piece
Gear up for SIBOFest's theme song global debut theme by rising Japanese composer, Keigo Makino, inspired by Sarawak's ethnic music.

Will meals be provided during the festival?
Yes, we are pleased to offer specially curated meals that highlight Sarawak’s unique cuisine. Participants can opt-in for these meals at an additional fee during registration. Those who choose not to do so are welcome to explore nearby food vendors and restaurants at their own expense.
What accommodations are available for outstation participants?
Participants can stay at our partner city hotels, the Theatre Hotel and The Waterfront Hotel, which offer special rates for festival attendees. Please contact us for a discount code. Additional accommodation options include Airbnb, budget hotels, and guesthouses.
Is there a dress code for the festival?
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing suitable for workshops and outdoor activities. However, fully covered shoes and non-revealing, respectful attire are required at all times. For the Finale Gala Concert, participants are requested to wear the festival t-shirt (which will be provided) along with covered shoes and long blue jeans.
Are there any age restrictions for participants?
The festival is designed with youths aged 15 and above in mind. However, we welcome enthusiastic participants of all ages. If you or your student is below 15 and eager to join, we encourage you to contact us. We will be happy to discuss and confirm participation based on the individual’s maturity and interest.
Are there any discounts available for group registrations?
Yes, group discounts are available for private school bands, community orchestras, or other large groups of more than 15 registering together. You may find the discounted rates in the registration form.
I have submitted my registration. What is next?
Once we have received both your registration details and payment, we will send you and/or your school/band an email containing further information about the event and the sheet music materials to be prepared. We encourage you to practice in preparation for the festival.
Is there a refund policy for registration fees?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for any reason, including force majeure events such as wars, riots, revolutions, natural disasters, strikes, fires, and other government-declared disasters.
How can I stay connected with other participants after the festival?
Participants are encouraged to exchange contact information during the festival and join the festival’s official social media groups. These platforms will facilitate ongoing connections, experience sharing, and networking with fellow musicians and attendees.
Will there be any merchandise available for purchase?
Yes, festival-related merchandise such as t-shirts, posters, and other items will be available for purchase both online and at the festival venue at a later date.
Do I have to audition?
No auditions are required to join SIBOFest 2024. However, string participants should hold a minimum of Grade 5 or be able to perform at that standard.
Do I need to bring my own instrument?
Yes, participants playing strings, woodwinds, and brass instruments are required to bring their own instruments. For larger instruments like the Tuba and Double Bass/Contrabass, it is advisable to contact local institutions or school bands to borrow instruments if bringing your own is inconvenient. For percussion players, please bring your own mallets and sticks.
Will transportation be provided for external activities?
Yes, transportation for activities such as the Borneo Adventure will be arranged by the festival organisers. Detailed information regarding pick-up points and schedules will be provided closer to the event date.
I am not from Sarawak, can I join?
Absolutely! This is an international event, and we warmly welcome participants of all nationalities.
Can I participate in only one day of the festival?
While we encourage full participation for the best experience, we understand that you may not be able to attend every session. You are welcome to attend partially, but please note that your e-certificate will only reflect the courses you have completed.
Can I join workshops/activities without participating in the entire festival?
Yes, we offer Observer Passes that allow you to access specific workshops and activities without participating in the entire festival. However, please note that your e-certificate will only reflect the sessions you have completed.
What happens in case of bad weather during outdoor activities?
Contingency plans are in place for outdoor activities. In case of bad weather, activities may be relocated to indoor venues or rescheduled. Participants will be informed of any changes as soon as possible.
How can I volunteer for the festival?
We welcome interested individuals to volunteer for the festival. Volunteers can apply through the festival’s official website or email us directly. Various roles are available, including event setup, registration, and assistance during activities.
What kind of support is available for participants with disabilities?
