Event Overview
The Band Lab brought a world of wonder to Tiny Fest Borneo, delivering a specialised performance designed to inspire and educate the next generation of music lovers. Recognising the unique energy of a younger audience, the organisation assembled a 20-piece mini-orchestra, creating a grand yet accessible symphonic experience for children and families.
The session was crafted as a perfect blend of performance, interaction, and education. To engage the young audience immediately, the orchestra performed a spirited rendition of "If You’re Happy and You Know It," encouraging full audience participation. This was followed by an instrument introduction segment, in which individual musicians performed short, characteristic solos to showcase the unique sounds and personalities of the string, wind, and percussion sections.
A major highlight of the event was the Mini Conductor session, a rare interactive opportunity that allowed children to step onto the podium and experience the thrill of leading a live orchestra. The magical atmosphere was further elevated by a performance of "Part of Your World," featuring a special guest appearance by Christine Chai as a princess, bringing a touch of fairy-tale charm to the stage. The set concluded with a high-energy performance of the crowd favourite, "Golden," leaving the young audience on a high note.
The Band Lab's participation in Tiny Fest Borneo underscores its commitment to youth outreach and music education. By breaking the "fourth wall" and inviting children to be part of the music-making process, the organisation continues to foster a deep appreciation for orchestral music within the Sarawak community.
