Event Overview
The Band Lab was invited to grace the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner, held on 28 October 2025, at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). The milestone "Silver Jubilee" celebration was officiated by the Premier of Sarawak and Pro-Chancellor of Swinburne Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, and attended by over 1,000 guests, including government dignitaries and industry leaders.
To mark this significant anniversary, The Band Lab prepared a medium-scale 15-piece ensemble. This specialised lineup integrated a classical string quartet with a full rhythm section and a wind section, creating a rich, orchestral-pop sound tailored for the grand venue. The performance featured local vocal sensation Chien Ng, who led the ensemble through a diverse repertoire that bridged generations.
The setlist included timeless classics such as "Fly Me to the Moon" and ABBA’s "Dancing Queen," alongside contemporary hits. A highlight of the evening was the performance of "Golden," the breakout hit from the 2025 animated musical KPop Demon Hunters, which resonated with the university’s younger audience and alumni.
