"With the auspicious Grand Opening of Sheraton Kuching officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the city's glitzy new hotel became the only Sheraton Hotel in East Malaysia and the third Sheraton Hotel in Malaysia!
The Premier of Sarawak presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony and Yee sang tossing, and later proceeded to sign the hotel plaque to officiate its grand opening. Present to grace the event were hotel owner Tan Sri Yee Ming Seng, and Marriott International's Area Vice President- Indonesia & Malaysia, Ramesh Jackson, among others.
Sheraton Kuching, part of Marriott Bonvoy's global portfolio of over 30 extraordinary hotel brands, is the latest addition to Kuching’s lineup of premium hotel brands and is one of the grandest the city has ever had thus far. And its Grand Opening ceremony was such a fitting affair, complete with a dragon dance and lion dance and special performances by the famous The Shang Sisters - TSS - Asia's leading Chinese female jazz trio from Kuala Lumpur with a penchant for Nanyang Jazz, The Band Lab as well as the incomparable Dato’ Sheila Majid.
The hotel, conveniently located a short 15-minute drive from Kuching International Airport, provides easy access to the central business district, public transport, and various cultural attractions like the Kuching Waterfront, Sarawak River Cruise, Borneo Cultures Museum, and the iconic Cat Family Statue steps away from the hotel. Given Kuching's designation as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, the hotel makes an excellent starting point for exploring the city's vibrant food culture."
