Event Overview
The Band Lab was invited to collaborate at the Sarawak International Festival of Music and Arts (SIFMA) 5.0 as part of the SIFMA Orchestra. Pieces performed during this event by the orchestra include 'Carmen Suite no. 1: VI. Les toréadors', ' The Impossible Dream', 'Bekikis Bulu Betis' and more.
The 5th edition of the Sarawak International Festival of Music and Arts (SIFMA), themed "Celebration of the Arts in Global Unity," took place on December 7-8, 2024, at the State Legislative Assembly building in Kuching. This vibrant event brought together people from diverse cultures and backgrounds through music, dance, and visual arts.
The opening day was graced by the esteemed Governor of Sarawak, His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Her Most Gracious Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Binti Mohd. Sanusi. Also in attendance were Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, and his wife, Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini Abdul Jabbar, along with Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister of Creative Industry and Performing Arts, and Datu Sherrina Hussaini, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak.
The opening night featured a series of exceptional performances by both local and international artists, including Dance Divine, the University of Malaya Arts Group, Dolce Chanticleer, Dua Space Dance Theatre, Singapore's D’Kingsman, K. Cultural Dance, the SIFMA Orchestra, and the Halili-Cruz.
