Event Overview
We had the immense pleasure of hosting 'A Frozen Christmas' at The Spring Shopping Mall in Kuching. This magical evening was our way of giving back to the community—a community that has supported us so generously throughout a truly successful year. We wanted to share the joy and gratitude we feel through the universal language of music, creating a festive celebration that brought smiles to everyone in attendance.
With the help of our wonderful collaborators—Ng Chien Chien, Dell Lawrence, Christine Chai, Armand Abdul Malik, Voces Felicium, Aorchestra, musicians from Sibu, KL, and Penang, as well as Century Music School, Hero AVL, Prodigy Music School, and UNIMAS—we put together an unforgettable performance. We’re deeply thankful to The Spring Mall Kuching for providing the perfect venue to make this event come alive.
Our 75-member orchestra began the evening with a spirited Christmas Fanfare, kicking off a program filled with holiday classics and Disney favourites. The performance included crowd-pleasers such as “Let It Snow,” featuring a captivating saxophone solo by Armand Abdul Malik, and “Grown-Up Christmas,” which showcased the incredible vocals of Christine Chai and the Voces Felicium Chamber Choir.
The Disney segment was especially rewarding, as we saw children light up with joy during “A Whole New World” from Aladdin (performed as a duet by Chien 芊 and Dell Lawrence) and a medley of Frozen favourites, including “Frozen Heart,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman,” “For the First Time in Forever,” and “Let It Go.” To conclude the evening, we brought everyone together with Mariah Carey’s timeless hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” leaving the audience on a high note.
To make the event even more special, we handed out Christmas balloons and gifts as a token of our appreciation, bringing the festive spirit to life and sharing a little extra joy with everyone who joined us.
As we reflect on 2024, we’re humbled by the support we’ve received and want to give back to the community that has given so much to us. This event was our heartfelt way of expressing gratitude and spreading cheer during the holiday season. Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to continue building these connections through events like our annual Anime concert, a Bridgerton-themed string quartet recital, and a Disney flash mob—a sneak peek of which we shared last night.
At The Band Lab, it’s our mission to use music as a bridge to bring people together, and A Frozen Christmas was a perfect embodiment of that vision. Here’s to more magical moments and shared joy in the coming year!
