Lawrence Chiu is a flutist, composer and music educator. He graduated from MIA (Malaysian Institute of Art), majoring flute performance under tutelage of Mr. Foo Chie Haur, Flute Principal of NSO (National Symphony Orchestra). He later continued to pursue his music degree at UoS (University of Sunderland), and had the opportunity to learn from Amy Yule, principal flute of RNS (Royal Northern Sinfonia) during his stay in England.

He is a current member of PWM (Philharmonic Winds Malaysia), and MPYO (Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra), and has performed with JPO (Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra), PPO (Penang Philharmonic Orchestra), SSO (Sunderland Symphony Orchestra), KLPAC Symphonic Band, Bede Winds, and more. As an active performer, Lawrence also plays chamber music with different groups of musicians across the country, and had co-organised a few creative projects. Some of his recent creative projects are - Blossoming, an exhibition concert featuring local artist and all local authentic artworks and music compositions, and - Jungle Dream, a storytelling music concert. Apart from performing, he also worked with KKMSCB (Kian Kok Middle School Concert Band) as guest tutor and guest performer in recent years.
