Joshua Tang
Sarawakian oboist Joshua Tang Jung Siong graduated from the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), majoring in Music Education. During his studies at UPSI, he took up an intense interest in the oboe, thanks to inspiring teachers such as Yong How Keen (RTM Orchestra).
Joshua's interest led him to work at Kojereeds, one of the region's most important suppliers of reeds for wind instruments. Following a concentrated period of study, he was offered a full scholarship to enrol in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore (NUS) to study with Rachel Walker and Carolyn Hollier (Singapore Symphony Orchestra).
Since then, Joshua has performed with a diverse number of ensembles, including the Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra (ACSO), Singapore, Silpakorn Summer Music School Orchestra (Thailand), Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO), Kuala Lumpur Performing Art Centre (KLPAC) Orchestra, Young Malaysians Go Classic (YMGC) Orchestra and others. He has also taken oboe lessons from Simon Emes, Joost Flach, Niels Dittmann, Howard Ng, Nelson Wong, and Lee Chun Howe. Joshua has recently graduated from NUS.
