Jesmond Siew is the Founder and President of The Band Lab — Sarawak’s first and only internationally award-winning Youth Band and Orchestra Program. Jesmond holds a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) degree from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and an Associate from the London College of Music (ALCM) in piano performance.

Under Jesmond’s leadership, The Band Lab has garnered multiple accolades, including four Gold Awards, one Silver Award, and four Champion titles at the 2023 Malaysia International Wind Festival. Additionally, ensembles from the band won the Overall Champion and the 1st runner-up at the Malaysia International Virtual Band Championships (MIVBC) 2021 in the Percussion (Senior Division) and Mixed Ensemble (Open Division), respectively. The band also produced laureates of the Malaysia Wind Music Prize: Ensemble Edition (The Band Lab Saxophone Quartet) in 2019 and received a Gold Award at the Kuching Concert Band Festival 2019 (Division III).

Jesmond’s contributions extend beyond The Band Lab. Internationally, he has achieved several awards, including the Gold Award at the Singapore Youth Festival (String Orchestra Category) and the 1st Myserscough International Violin Competition in Brunei. He is also a recipient of the prestigious ABRSM Malaysia Wind Music Prize.

As a multi-instrumentalist and conductor, Jesmond frequently performs with regional ensembles, such as the Sarawak State Symphony Orchestra (SONS), Philharmonic Winds Malaysia, Selangor Philharmonic Orchestra, Sunway University Ensemble, etc. His recent engagements include performances with the Triplet Orchestra and the Kinta Valley Wind Orchestra. He regularly collaborates with musicians from across the globe, including those from Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.

In addition to his extensive performance career, Jesmond is the event organiser for Borneo’s largest ACG Live Orchestra Concerts, An Anime Symphony and An ACG Symphony, which attracts over 1,000 attendees at their sold-out shows.

He also leads the Sarawak Wind Band Outreach Program, promoting music education across the region. As the Festival Director of the Sarawak International Band and Orchestra Festival (SIBOFest) 2024 and Kuching’s inaugural Kuching Youth Band Fiesta, Jesmond continues to champion music education through both physical and virtual outreach, expanding his influence beyond Sarawak with digital content and international virtual concerts.

Jesmond’s dedication to music and education positions him as a pivotal figure in Sarawak’s cultural landscape, with his visionary leadership continuing to break barriers and expand the reach of music education in the region and beyond.
