Bonnie Kong Tien Li completed her Bachelor in Music (Hons), majoring in piano performance under the tutelage of Yong Sue Yi at the UCSI University, Malaysia. She obtained LTCL Diploma in piano in 2014, and also completed her Grade 8 flute exam in the same year.

As an active performer, Bonnie plays with many chamber groups in her university as a pianist and performs regularly in MPO/MPYO chamber concerts in Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP), where she receives coaching from professional musicians in the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).

On top of that, Bonnie has been a flautist in the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra since 2014. Over the years, the orchestra has performed under the baton of world-renowned conductors such as Benjamin Zander and Hans Graf, worked with local artists like Sheila Majid and Jamal Abdillah, and performed for the 128th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session, as well as the annual Merdeka Awards ceremony. The MPYO went on tour to Singapore and Hong Kong in 2017 and 2018 respectively, where they performed in the Esplanade Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Recently, she was selected to join the Asia-Pacific Youth Symphony Orchestra in Hong Kong as a principal flute.

Being a multi-instrumentalist, she has always wanted to hone her craft on both instruments. Hence, she has attended masterclasses for both the piano and the flute. She has participated in piano masterclasses conducted by Dr Peter Amstutz, Ng Chong Lim and Albert Tiu, as well as flute masterclasses and workshops conducted by Adam Walker, Michael Cox and Ian Mullin.

Bonnie has participated in the MYOF piano competition (2012), Nanyang International Music Competition (2017), and was a finalist in the Ipoh Music Festival in 2017.
